I use Raspberry Pi as my main desktop for everyday web browsing, spreadsheets, etc. Past three years I've used my Pi 4 (8GB) and recently purchased a Pi 5 (8GB). On my Pi 4 I spent a lot of time customizing it, but that was three years ago. So I'm back at it on my new Pi 5.
For familiarity I've been working Pi 4 and Pi 5 side by side trying to get the Pi5 to look similar to the settings/customization on my Pi4. I think I screwed up making a command line change while attempting to get something to look/function in Wayland as it did in X11 on my Pi 4 (Pi4 is running Bullseye) and I copied and pasted something I thought worked in the past.
When I try to run sudo apt update I get this:
E: Type '‘deb' is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/volian.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Not wanting to bother anyone I starting searching for this on the web. When looking in text editor nano I see:
‘deb https://deb.volian.org/volian/ raspbian main‘
I'm a regular newbie who is working to switch from MS to Linux in my free time (which is hardly ever). I like it but in this case I think I'm over my skis. I have searched this - most help shows up in Ubuntu and Linux Mint forums.
I'm not sure if this will affect the Pi OS auto-updates, and regardless I'd like to correct what I broke. I wanted to ask her as this is regarding Pi OS. Many thanks in advance
