If the names are important, then they need to be DISPLAYED. Not hidden away.
There is also the issue that there really is no way to tell if "Bobby" is newer than "Harold". For that, you need the real version number.
Yeah, I know, so what. The names work fine for people that work with the different versions all the time. For the rest of us that don't - either display the name prominently - or just use the version number.

Mostly just a peeve of mine, as I've had multiple different pieces of software use a name to mean some version - but the software doesn't display the name by default - just the version number. So for each and every package that does this, you have to learn Yet Another way to find the name.
